This car was owned and run by London Porsche specialist Charles Ivey. It competed in the World Group C Sports Car Championship in 1987 and 1988 including Le Mans in both years. In 1987 it failed to finish, but in 1988 it finished 3rd in Class despite several unscheduled stops to replace damaged driveshafts.
It is believed that it later went to Sweden before coming back to this Country and has sat unused for many years.
The car originally ran with a 962 Twin Turbo engine with water cooled heads. The final specification for the re-build has not yet been decided but initially it will be built with a normally aspirated 3.6 litre engine for testing purposes.
The customer acquired the vehicle in pieces and the first stage of the restoration is to assemble it to check what is missing and to see what needs to be done when the restoration proper starts. As can be seen the initial build up has been started with no major problems encountered so far.
Drivers in period included well known Porsche Cup specialist, Tim Harvey.
